Application Management Support for ABS (Asset Backed Securitization) and Teasury (SAP Treasury; SEM-PA & SEM-RA) & SAS – Ensuring within a highly customized system environment the overall applications availability for numerous countries and their users. Enabling Volkswagen Financial Services AG to meet legal and audits monthly deadlines around the world on time as reporting requirements have to be fulfilled without exception.

The freelancer was in charge of the ABS team (6 consultants) as Project Manager, which is supporting 2 highly customized SAP BW systems. These SAP systems are business critical for VWFS AG. Refinancing their cash flow needs the applications for Germany, France, Spain, Netherland, UK, Brazil, Japan, China, Netherlands and Australia are running very complex country specific ABS operations within SAP BW from selection of the assets by specific contractual and legal criteria’s (user interface), creations of bonds, running Tap-up and Top-up processes and providing monthly investor and legal reporting. The team set-up is currently 40% on-site and 60% near-shore (Poland/Rumania). Additionally he is in charge of all ABS developments and functional enhancements gaining access to the productive environment.

Since June 2015 the freelancer is program manager at VWFS AG as he has taken over the responsibility for the AMS TRM & SAS team, too. This team is facing huge challenges as to the limitations of resources (team size 6 consultants), the big number of different platforms and applications and the location of the team members (2 Portugal, 5 Poland, 1 Germany). This team is overseeing the data processing of 16 different Applications such as SAP (ICM, SEMPA; SEMRA; TRM; WIS; ZBS & BW), Carat, SAS CS and other customer applications. Furthermore their customer base is multinational, too.

Even with the challenging team set-up he has managed to create the Nr. 1 & 2 of 5 best performing teams at the customer site of VWFS AG.

Overcoming cultural differences, building functional and business focused teams the freelancer managed to position his delivery teams in the heart of the IT processes. With implementing structured procedures the freelancer ensures that a high level of delivery is met and maintained.

MIS Stabilization project – Enabling existing Management Information System of AGCS to cope with the increasing demand of data and business information requirements, fulfilling audit and legal demands and finally redesigning the current data process in the light of scalability, stability and performance.

As PM his ownership and responsibilities at AGCS included a project budget of approx. €4mio., the leadership and management of 25 FTEs onsite and across boarders (India, Germany, UK & US), inbound and outbound dependency management and most importantly overall communication management (escalation, status reporting, stakeholder management etc.).

Main challenge which the team and the freelancer had to achieve was the stabilisation and re-engineering of a core IT system which is interacting with all main enterprise applications, both front and back-end applications in an restricted and often shared development & testing environment and with shared resourcing leading to much coordination effort towards third-party vendors, dependent projects and environment owners to synchronies and align project deliverables.

Project planning, progress tracking and overseeing the technical solution deployment while managing dependencies are his main tasks.

Within a banking environment the merge and staging of SAP and Non-SAP data in appropriate time slices had to be realized and made available for reporting. Data harmonization and cleansing had priority. Due to the huge amount of data from different source systems a streamlined data staging process had to be designed and developed and BEx reports had to be optimized accordingly to meet the run time demands of the end user community. Main focus of responsibility was delivery of requested software solution in budget/on time, overall system re-design and development team building.

  • Stepping in as Platform Head BI (escalation manager) while release X was heading to the go-live phase (ensuring development quality, allocation and monitoring of defect handling and solution).
  • Project and resource planning of the subsequent project releases with
    • ­ Project cost estimation
