Project Abstract

RNC is a complex software system for UMTS Radio Network

Controllers . Implementation under test is load capabilities
present in RNC . NodeB and UE are simulated using DCT200
system for Catapult .Load percentage on call processors is
monitored as per the load conditions specified in the test case.

Tasks involved

• Creation of the Test Plan & Test Specification in accordance with FRS (Feature Request Sheet)
• Plan, specify and execute System Verification test cases related to call processing
• Troubleshooting problems and analysis of L2 & L3 layer
  using standard test tools/tracers Tektronix K1297/Anritsu UMTS Master 8220A
• Optimising radio network performance by modifying
  different Network/Cell parameters for high throughput
• Set up test environment, software update , update .xml
  files for test automation.Write Simulation Test scripts in CATTGEN simulator. Design Test Cases , Execute test

• Test Result Evaluation.Trace Analysis on UE and
  Network side related to signalling and performance

• Set up test environment. Design Release Test Plan,Test Effort Estimation ,Test Case Design Execute test cases and Report faults of related SW module
• Participated in Chalk Talks along with Subject Matter Experts (SME) & System Architects for the requirement freezing of new features of 1x RNC
• Created & Executed Test Cases for Feature & Regression Testing of OAM, Traffic Processing Unit (TPU), Traffic Control Server (TCS) software for Radio Network Controller
• Trained and mentored new team members on 1x RNC related tasks resulting in improved individual and team performance

Project Abstract

Nokia RNC is a complex software system for UMTS Radio
Network Controllers. Implementation under test is protocol
stack present in RNC. All the other interfaces for functioning
of the system are simulated.

Tasks involved

• Test case planning .Design Test cases. Creating test
  scripts in TTCN. Executing the test scripts .Set up test
  environment which includes software installation,
  upradation and configuration
• Trace Analysis and Defect Reporting through web
  based tool called PRONTO. Verifying bug fixes.Test
  Automation using HIT
• Analysis and verification of different interfaces e.g. Iu, Iub, Uu with corresponding Protocols e.g. RRC, NBAP, ALCAP, RANAP and RLC,MAC as well with different network signaling tracers e.g. NetHawk
• Worked on features like Admission Control, Compressed Mode , SHO , Power Control .Based on Software functional specs , Simulation of different network elements and interfaces using TTCN scripting
• Participation in review meeting with NOKIA. Maintaining the Test Suite MOD and updating it in CVS. Analyzing the CR (change request), identifying the new test scenario or modifying the existing scenario according to CR. Mentoring and leading new team members
