CorUVM & CorFinCalcs

Actuarial and Calculation Engine

DevOps

• Standardized the build process using gradle. Converted the manual build process to gradle tasks, thereby delivering consistent and reliable code across multiple test and production environments.
• Ported, customized and maintained automated unit test using TestNG framework.
• Set up automated nightly build pipelines in Bamboo to continuously test and deliver code.
• Defined and enforced branching strategy in Git and Aptitude repository.

Development & Support

• Migrated features which were initially developed using proprietary AAE to Oracle stored procedures, thereby increasing performance of some processes from 10 hours to approximately 20 minutes.
• Development and maintenance of multiple Aptitude ETL projects and Oracle database objects. Delivered multiple business features from driving business requirements to code delivery in production.
• Compilation and packaging of releases. Accountable for ensuring release made available for deployment into the change-controlled environments was stable, fully unit tested and would deploy without incident.
• Worked as a production operational dispatcher and was responsible for solving multiple incidents. Ensuring that fixes to issues encountered were integrated back into the codebase.

Development & Support

• Developed Aptitude solutions and Oracle objects to consolidate and transport data between differing data sources to respective consumer applications. Delivered efficient and functioning code according to the strict code quality requirements.
• Created multiple data quality rules to enforce integrity and quality of delivered data.
• Creation of new and the maintenance of existing automated unit tests written in the Java-based TestNG framework.
• Reviewing and critiquing the code produced by other members of the team to ensure code quality.
• Using an Agile SCRUM development methodology, accountable for sprint reviews, delivery and retrospectives.

• Aptitude Accounting Engine

AAH Configuration

• Creating new and modifying existing posting patterns and account lookups.
• Development and maintenance of processes in each layer of AAH processing from Standardisation (STN) through to Reporting Data Repository (RDR).

Release management

• Administration of the Aptitude repository. Defined sprint-based branches performed code merges and cut labels. Responsible for ensuring that each member of the team had both committed all code to be included in forthcoming releases and that it was of an appropriate quality.
• Deployment of releases into the production environment when necessary.

Development

• Liaising with the release management team to ensure that the functionality desired by the business is planned into sprints.
• Planning sprints in JIRA and delegating development tasks to team members.
• Development and maintenance of Aptitude ETL projects.
• Creation of new and the maintenance of existing automated unit tests written in the Java-based TestNG framework.
• Managing source code in the GIT repository.

Application maintenance & performance

• Proactive monitoring of the performance of the solution and refactoring code when necessary.

Common Staging Area (CSA)

• Development Aptitude solutions to Shred (unpack) data from XML files and subsequent load into the database.
• Migration of the Aptitude server and the Aptitude repository from Aptitude version 4.10 to 5.10. Migrated codebase from SVN to GIT.
• Maintenance of the Aptitude repository and resolution of conflicts.
• Design and development of Teradata stored procedures, views and objects.
• Managed various test environments, deploying builds and troubleshooting day-to-day activities.

Production Support

• Resolution of critical incidents in the production environment
• Provision of assistance in migrating the CSA application from Teradata 14 to Teradata 15.
