  • Identified key bottlenecks in Jira visibility caused by third-party-managed configuration.
  • Advocated for structural changes to improve traceability, coordination and Agile transparency, revealing a growing specialization in Atlassian governance and tooling architecture.
  • Although the project was ultimately halted, this experience deepened Martin?s resolve to ensure that tooling supports delivery rather than obscuring it.

After (name by request)?s parental leave was over, he joined this local software firm to run their newly-founded team allocated to their nearshored customer.

Backlog? Planning? Done? Never heard before?
HUH! Never mind, let's go!

Half of the team members just gained their first professional experience.
Second half just ended their first two years of professional experience.
Both halves were well educated and technologically up to date. To be frank, this team was cross-functional from Day One.
The PO was located outside of the geographic location of the team.

While the developer part of the team was running, the main goal was to break the initial distrust of the PO to "his" remotely assigned team. Not an easy task. Poor technical knowledge of the PO and suboptimal structured and managed environment inside of the customer's organization caused lots of undesired situations.
But in the end, it started to work. Two biggest success points from (name by request)'s point of view that he gained during this period?

Firstly, at the end of this period, the most criticizing members of the team acknowledged publically that the way we maintained the backlog was extremely helpful to solve newly arisen PBI just by the search functionality of the backlog.

Secondly, the customer decided to relocate the whole team to his geographic location to do a brand new project. Thirdly, the whole team decided to relocate.
