• By introducing Scrum, I reduced the average meeting workload from 10 to 4 hours per week.

Tasks:

Next to first level support and 24/7 on-call rotation, I led three major projects:

• The overhaul of the event-driven messaging backend used for change data capture. By switching from Python to Go, we realised a speed-up of 500%, thereby drastically cutting the infrastructure cost.
• The introduction of quality gates for SQL scripts. By adding a linter to the CI pipeline, we enabled 30 data analysts to work on their 1000 SQL scripts more autonomously, which decreased the average waiting time for merge requests from two days to less than one hour.
• The establishment of a weekly coding dojo and a monthly reading club. The coding dojo reached 15 weekly users to learn the Go language, the reading club discussed chapters from Google?s Site Reliability Engineering book with up to 10 monthly users.

2021 ? 2022: Coordinated the shared data platform

• By replacing a custom deployment scheme using Bash and boto3 with a unified approach using Terraform, I simplified the deployment process from five manual steps to one automated script.
