Principal Targets: 

Migrate all applications in Production environment from old to new storage with minimal possible service interruption

 

Responsibility: 

Plan overall project, coordinate internal and external tasks, assess and communicate risks, manage 10 core team, conduct lessons learned

Description:

Migration and consolidation of storage boxes, (700 TB, replaced 12 medium and high end storages (HDS USP, AMS) by 2 new high end storages (HDS VSP),after kickoff, develop and clarify migration strategy, plan and communicate migration for 260 application and database packages on 70 Enterprise servers, coordinate architecture, operations, application operations, change control, service management, vendor management, storage vendor, external outsourcer, conduct lessons learned workshop.

No unplanned outages during migration, production systems were not impacted. Performance increase by appr. 30% on DB-level, achieved significant cost savings. With excellent team spirit, delivery could be achieved 3 weeks earlier than planned. In budget.

Principal Targets: Enable timely rollout by fixing urgent open problems.

 

Responsibility: Coordinate with project team, operations and users, identify problems, develop solutions and issue internal tasks for immediate problem resolution

Description:

A lot of unresolved urgent tasks were still open before the SAP rollout. Fast and responsive resolution of these tasks had to be guaranteed. Having a good and proven knowhow record for the technical problems and good process knowledge in the operations organization I was able to remove the blocking issues for the rollout.

Description:

The upgrade of the network infrastructure could severely affect operations, so planning and rollout had to minimize effects on operations and other planned rollouts. Thorough risk evaluation and proper communication/project marketing towards the stakeholders were the key success factors.

The project was delivered in time, budget and quality. We had no service impact in production.

Project turn around, erection of electro steel melting plant in Russia

 

Responsibility:

Team lead of 3 project managers for coaching of 20 line management and 15 supervisors, assist coaching for overall project manager

Description:

Project (>500M€, 700 workers) had significant delay after project restart, after evaluation of the project status, all findings had to be addressed: creation of new WBS, new organizational structure, evaluation/selection of new project manager, complete re-planning of overall time schedule, coaching of management team, coaching of supervisors on site (Russian civil engineering), defining and overviewing the planning process, constant evaluation of progress and risks, reporting to upper management.

First heat on electric arc furnace was executed on Oct, 26th. Inauguration by President Putin on Nov 16th, first cast CCM1 on Jan 25th2011, first cast CCM2 on May 15th, lime plant tbd.

Project turn around, erection and migration of new data center for MDAX finance company

 

Responsibility:

Overall project management, 1.77 of 3.37 Mio€, 13 of 30 months, core team of 12, plus application support and development.

Description:

After several project managers failed to have significant progress, I evaluated and replanned the project, after 2 months a first mile stone was reached, within one year the new data center was up and running. New x86 hardware implemented, new installation mechanisms for OS and application software, new concepts for DC failover, virtualisation, backup, monitoring and database replication evaluated and implemented (Linux, XEN, Veritas, Nagios, Oracle). Migration to the new data center was executed with two planned downtimes of 5 min. Handover to production was successful. Planned and prepared lessons learned workshops for customer.

Description:

FTP service was running on an old and undocumented machine. Research for existing users, network and firewall connections to intranet and internet, consolidation, reimplementation for new machine had to be coordinated. Migration was executed in time, budget and quality.

New servers and storages had to be delivered in preparation for the new software release. Also some hardware had to be replaced. Concepts for migration with the least possible influence on production had to be coordinated. Communication with outsourcer, operations and vendors (SUN, HP, HDS). Description:

Due to space, cooling and power limitations a new data center was added, complete redeployment of the environments during operation, interwoven with regular hardware updates, starting with test environments to gain expertise. (HP, SUN, HDS, CISCO, Brocade) Coordination of customer, outsourcer and vendors. All relocation were executed in the planned timeframe without interruption of operations.
