  • I manage a team of both internal and external professionals to achieve full regulatory compliance (VAIT/VAG) and VDA/Tisax certification by the end of 2023.   • I managed the establishment of the technical and organizational basis within the IT, compliance and audit to ensure full regulatory compliance which is mandatory for HTS for being granted the BaFin license for rendering payment services on the German market. For this, I assessed Regulatory Requirements (ZAIT/ZAG) and authored multiple regulatory documents and guidelines. I defined and set up the IT organization using ITIL structures and established a BaFin-compliant IT outsourcing approach. 
  • In this role, I also served as the interface between external legal counsels, internal legal and the IT organization of the group with the objective to establish a fully compliant organizational and service structure. Leveraging on my extensive KYC experience, I defined and set up appropriate AML/KYC processes and managed the implementation of a centralized identity service and the related compliance platform. This also included the definition and implementation of the regulatory reporting platform and challenging tasks like the authoring of an internal auditing guideline.

For this, I first assessed the status quo, completed a skill inventory comprising of both teachers and external programmers and completed a project plan to prepare Hessen for the expected Covid-challenges in winter 2021/22.
  • As programme manager I provided detailed management reporting to the Kultusministerium and ensure proper project controlling using the Projektron project management & controlling solution, for which I became the first user within GEC?s data center operations.

  • I also designed and implemented an AML compliant KYC solution and provided architectural guidance to a team of internal and external, near-shored specialists at various geographical locations during the implementation. With my vast experience of different technical options and organizational structures, I was in involved in a number of highprofile IT due diligence assessments for Fodb?s M&A and outsourcing activities, including the takeover of AXA Bank as part of my role as CTO (ad interim) of the bank.
  • I acted as a sponsor and manager for the implementation of a robo-adviser which was developed for one of FodBs main business partners. Being first mover in their market segment when it comes to regulatory compliance with MiFID II, I designed and managed the implementation of an ex-ante and ex-post cost information system and the related regulatory reporting platform vis-à-vis BaFin.
  • I also served as programme manager and architect for the PSD2 API solution of FodB and project manager of the IT activities of the MIFID 2 project, where I became technical liaison to the legal department and handled the direct alignment with BaFin with respect to MiFIR Art. 26 reporting requirements.

  • With a distributed team of internal and external developers residing in Sofia, Malaga, Warsaw and Munich designed and implemented this data warehouse that currently ranges in the area of 120 TB. It is also used for monitoring crucial (and banned) short-selling activities as well as real-time exposure monitoring across UniCredit.
  • Furthermore, I introducted state-of-the-art BI and ETL solutions, including a proof-of-concept for a Hadoop-based Big Data solution, whih got rejected in favour of an XML based database solution for performance reasons. Furthermore, I held responsibility for the global CRM system (Siebel), various data warehouses in Italy and Germany, global service platforms like UniCredit ?onemarkets? and the global research platform (UniCredit Research), which are provided as a SaaS to our clients.

  • During this period, in which I was also in charge for the market data platform of UniCredit, I was tasked to reduce the infrastructure cost of the overall environment of approx.. 50%. For this, I got additionally introduced as a member to the global team of architects in Milan which are in charge for the IT architecture of the entire group
  • Defining the general architectural pre-conditions with this team and by managing my own department for the actual implementation, we successfully reduced the overall infrastructure cost of the Markets environment as targeted by Management [Name auf Anfrage] approx. 50% down to roughly 10m EUR. This was achieved by identifying 4 main areas for which I managed a significant number of due diligence assessments in order to identify realistic opportunities
  • As part of this, I spearheaded the introduction of a 16.000+ core computational grid, desktop virtualization for the trading floor, the consolidation of the global market data platform universe and various data center optimisations, including energy efficient cooling systems
