Established the company (on request), based in Germany, to support a variety of industries with project and site management requirements for maintenance, installation and commissioning of industrial process equipment. Services provided include on-line and off-line inspections, mechanical surveys, audits, troubleshooting and assistance with on-site or off-site rebuilds. Some of the projects completed include:

• OEM representitave for installation of new MDF line, including biomass fired energy plant, thermal oil and steam systems with ash cleaning circuits plus flash tube dryer and single cyclone. Piet Retief, South Africa ?10m
• Supervise the refurbishment of a fuel feed system for a biomass fired heat energy plant in a challenging time frame for an MDF mill at Unilin, Vielsalm, Belgium ?1m
• OEM site Supervisor/relief Manager, for retrofit of OSB Dryer line, including replacement of 32m Drum Dryer, structural steel upgrade and cyclone replacent. West Fraser OSB, Genk, Belgium ?18m
• OEM representitave for replacement of 4x dryer lines for existing Wood Pellet plant, including installation/comissioning of 4x 24m Drum Dryers. Pine Bluff, Arkansas, USA US $32m
• Supervise the installation of a dust fired burner and thermal oil heater for an MDF Drier at Unilin, Vielsalm, Belgium ?3m
• Supervise the construction of a large automated logistics warehouse for Primark in the Netherlands. ?70m

• Initially a construction role for 11 months as Site Manager in Scotland to assemble, install and commission a biomass fired, single pass drier and thermal oil energy system for a brownfield OSB panel board facility. The role included management of all site installation works, including liaising with the OEM comissioning team to ensire all requirements were met, also performed the role of direct client contact within our scope plus all financial and HR related tasks for a ~45-man team totalling (~62,000 manhours).

• Specific technical aspects that I was personally involved with were, weld management and QA for all structural, mechanical and piping assemblies. This included pressure testing and client approvals (internal and external) for all water and thermal oil lines.
• The role then developed into a broader management role over multiple projects, based from Germany and included estimating and presentation to client, scheduling, fabrication workshop supervision / QA, through to on site team lead.

In parallel, the role included direct input into various process optimisation/de bottle necking projects, including:

• Review mainenance practices in bulk materials handing system, (ship unloading through to stockyard stacker and reclaim)
• Setup a conveyor maintenance contract for the site, focusing on belt cleaning activities
• Replace / repair damaged guard railing, floor panels and structure in various plant areas.
• Plant performance improvement, increased pump efficiency/performance at feed preparation area, working with operations and external contractors.
• Elimination of major erosion areas by fabricating basic rock boxes, reducing downtime.

Initially employed as Maintenance Planning Lead, to set-up all planned maintenance systems, review/augment site spare parts requirements, schedule planned and reactive plant shutdowns and training the local workforce of Maintenance Planners. Then changed to Supervision as one of four expat mechanical supervisor / trainers of a 50+ man maintenance crew (mechanical fitting, machining, fabrication, craneage, rigging and scaffolding) for all planned, reactive and preventative maintenance activities on the following installations:

• Primary gyratory crusher rebuilds and repairs
• Redesign SAG feed chute, encorperating local foundary to cast custom mangenise liners
• Conveyor replacements and preventative maintenance, elimination of wear points
• 36km sea water pipe line with six booster pump and valving stations

• Supervision and training of a 20+ man team of mechanical fitters conducting in-situ pre-commissioning and early works repairs and rebuilds. Work included motor, gearbox and bearing replacements due to water contamination, training and mentoring of local trades in the field.

Accountable for all financial, mechanical and electrical planned, preventative and reactive maintenance for both fixed plant and a light vehicle fleet. 30+ man Maintenance crew (Mechanical Fitting, Electrical, Contract Fabrication, Cranage, Rigging / Scaffolding)

• Increased crusher reliability, and sourced alternate wear materials suited to ore type.
• Mannaged total Maintenance budget of AUD23mil including: Setting and achieveing an initial zero based budget, managed leach and low-grade ore circuit, plant capital upgrades.
• Worked with operations team and reduced costs and increasing plant availability and efficiency.
