I joined the On-Demand team as Tech Lead because I was genuinely impressed by the team?s seniority and professionalism. What stood out to me was their agile, value-first mindset and the way they approach work with discipline through TDD. For me, it was a great chance to learn from people with decades of experience while taking on complex challenges?like moving from a legacy system to a modern distributed architecture that handles everything from content ingestion to delivery, and standardising metadata across media assets for millions of users (BILD, WELT, etc.). On top of the technical work, I also focus on collaborating with cross-functional teams and helping to grow the team by hiring strong technical talent.

Together with the two core teams, comprising seven software engineers, two architects, one designer, and two data scientists, we helped expand the feature set of the existing core product on one side, and plan the decommissioning of the legacy system on the other. We achieve this by fostering an agile and collaborative culture, enabling the team members to decide what topics are of most importance, therefore creating a stronger bond between the team and the product. Other responsibilities include communication and collaboration with various cross-functional teams, hiring technical talent, and conducting performance reviews.

I decided to join Tonepedia because of the unique vision at the intersection of music, technology and user experience. The idea of creating a tool/platform where musicians can explore the sounds of instruments and effects before buying the physical product intrigued me. Tonepedia combines innovation with real musical passion, and that?s exactly the kind of environment and challenge I wanted to contribute to and help scale. One of the significant challenges of Tonepedia was the slow implementation of features due to the existing software solution. Together with the team (all parties), we renew the product vision and formulate a strategy that will enable us to smoothly transition from the existing legacy solution to a new, versatile cloud solution, allowing the team to achieve their goals and a faster time to market for our features. Other responsibilities include communication and collaboration at all levels, hiring technical talent, budget planning, etc.
