• Agreed the first holistic and consistent Cloud plan portfolio to excite customers with the best IoT connectivity and data movement SaaS solution on the market; shipped ?Cloud Starter? as HiveMQ?s first single tenant full featured self-service plan.
• Architected and implemented the highly automated HiveMQ Cloud platform for delivering standardized HiveMQ Cloud plans and bespoken managed services for enterprise customers on the top 3 hyper scalers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Built the Cloud organization from scratch, hiring up from 8 to 24 engineers (projected target: 150). Established basic working structures, planning and execution routines.

Side engagements are often seen as ?red flag?, but I kept up this side engagement over the years as it offers awesome learning opportunities and especially keeps me as a full-time leader capable of doing hands-on coding myself and my judging abilities alive.

• Redesigned and united as disciplinary main department lead multiple thrown together units  with ~ 120 employees distributed over 8 countries, worldwide, into one global productoriented organization with a new joint identity and common mission.
• Owned the Continental Autonomous Mobility Data Lake, Data Pipeline and Machine Learning engine for radar, camera and ADCU (driving computer) development providing data driven virtual simulation, test data reuse and AI model training for driver assistance and autonomous driving systems on large scale (> 1 petabyte of data)
• Pushed the Cloud-native rewrite of the whole distributed, heterogeneous data pipeline and HPC software-in-the-loop simulation clusters to one new architecture based on AWS (CAEdge).
• Changed the mindset from short-term project-based thinking with manual execution and special case adjustments to sustainable, long-term platform development and operations with high degree of standardization.

• Delivered the premium telematics experience for 3 major vehicle generations as the functional area owner and disciplinary lead for up to 25 employees and ~150 external contractors from various providers.
• Designed, developed and operated the still current IoT communication stack based on MQTT and HTTP which went live in 2018 with current BMW X5, 8 and 3 Series. It is capable of handling millions of simultaneous open connections and transfers everyday > 1,5 billion MQTT messages and 1 billion HTTP requests every day.
• Transformed a classic dev unit (waterfall, no operations) with very long release cycles into a product oriented, agile DevOps unit delivering to production stage every week with 2 release trains, 5 technical products (7 dev teams), project office and centralized architecture steering function for IoT domain. Developed and rolled-out 4 Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible) Cloud IoT connectivity hubs worldwide on Amazon Web Services (AWS) as first major Cloudification milestones for BMW ConnectedDrive.
• Designed the company-wide agreement of BMW vehicle onboard - offboard integration standards for 2021 and onwards vehicle architectures
