As balance model, an annotated DTD is used, decorated with database extractors and post processing annotations (to be processed by a XSLT script). The end result is a XML representation of the balance. The end format can be HTML or PDF.
A Web based front end is used in order to build and generate the XML representation of the balance, to administrate the DTD templates and XML representation of the balance and the printable form (HTML or PDF). A lot of Metadata was used in order to simplify the building of the DTD.
The front end is implemented as Servlet / JSP and the persistent side as EJB/DB2 using Websphere 3.5 for the first version. The second version was implemented without Websphere, using Tomcat, DB2, Ant, Servlet / JSP, JUnit, JAXP, Xerces, Xalan and a threaded server in order to transform the annotated DTD in XML and to format it as HTML or PDF.
In a team of three persons I was responsible for the design, parts of the Web Front End and persistence aspects
