Responsible for Nyrstar’s global Active Directory and Exchange infrastructure for 4700 users across 24 global locations on 4 continents.

In this role I performed following duties:

• Review and stabilization of Nyrstar’s old Windows 2003/Exchange 2003 infrastructure
• Overall Project management and budgeting for the Active Directory / Exchange migration project
• Technical design of the new Windows 2008 R2/Exchange 2010 infrastructure
• Roll-out of 23 new Windows 2008 R2 domain controllers and 10 Exchange 2010 servers
• Migration of 4700 mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010
• Operational maintenance of the Active Directory and Exchange infrastructure
• 2nd level support and coaching to local IT teams
• Coordination with other specialists in the Global IT infrastructure team (datacentre, network, backup, antivirus, integration of AD with SAP etc.)
• Assistance to integration team on integration of other business acquired by Nyrstar into Nyrstar’s Active Directory and Exchange infrastructure.

Nyrstar is a global metal corporation focused on mining and smelting of zinc and lead.

Worked on design, planning and delivery of Exchange migration and consolidation projects for Axept and Swisscom customers. Provided 3rd level Exchange support for diverse customers. Supported Swisscom in presales activities regarding their Managed Communications and Collaboration (MCC) offering.

Axept is a gold Microsoft partner and a daughter company of Swisscom.

Worked on delivery of Microsoft based infrastructure projects for Winworker’s customers (analysis, design, implementation, support and training) in area of Exchange, Active Directory, PKI, TMG. Delivered following projects:

• Nyrstar – International mines corporation, Zurich, Switzerland. Workshop on Active Directory and Exchange, testing of the existing environment consisting of 15 Windows 2003  AD sites globally, 10 Exchange 2003 servers and 3000 users in order to determine its readiness for upgrade to Windows 2008/Exchange 2010. 

• Ambit AG – CRM software vendor, Winterthur, Switzerland. Active Directory migration from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008 R2, Exchange migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.

• WEH AG – industrial customer, Illertissen, Germany. Active Directory migration from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008 R2, Exchange migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 SP1, firewall migration from ISA Server 2006 to TMG 2010 cluster.
• Meyer Burger AG – industrial, manufacturer of solar energy equipment, Thun, Switzerland. Complete infrastructure analysis and redesign, Windows 2008 R2 domain installation, Exchange 2010 SP1 installation, migration from existing Lotus Notes 8.5.1 environment to Exchange 2010 SP1
• Swisscom, CBU-Corporate Business Unit – Windows 2008 Active Directory and PKI design and implementation for managed UC project.

Consultant in area of Microsoft Exchange. Main project which I worked on was for an global industrial customer headquartered in Germany where I designed and deployed an Exchange 2007 solution for 28.000 users across 38 countries.

Also supported the sales organisation in several bid processes (technical expertise in area of Microsoft Infrastructure / Exchange, solution design, risk analysis, cost estimates etc.)  Among others for an energy giant with 120.000 users in 16 countries.

BT is one of the largest Telekom and Services corporations globally with 106.000 employees, serving customers in 170 countries.

Designed a migration of their existing messaging system from a Unix based to Microsoft Exchange 2007 based system for 2.500.000 (2.5 million) users.

Swisscom is the largest telecom company in Switzerland.  Swisscom Fixnet division is dealing with fixed telephony and internet services. Internet services are offered under the BlueWin brand including wide range of services:  DSL, e-mail, IPTV, VoIP, etc.  

I was hired to perform a migration of Stryker’s EMEA messaging system from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange.

Supported existing mixed Exchange and Lotus Notes environment in EMEA region and also acted as a backup person for corporate Exchange administrators on global level.

Designed and completed a stabilization project which stabilized their existing environment and solved some major Lotus Notes –Exchange interoperability issues. Reduced downtime of their Exchange system from 80 hours a month to near 0 and reduced the number of helpdesk tickets by 80% in just 3 months.

Stryker is a Fortune 500 medical company with 16.000 employees worldwide.

Major project I worked on was for Festo on a Lotus Notes 7.0 to Exchange 2007 beta 2 migration as a part of Exchange 2007 Rapid Deployment Program (RDP). Festo is a world leading industry automation solution provider with 11.500 employees in 132 locations in 54 countries, providing services to over 300.000 customers in 176 countries. Also worked on a number of projects all over Germany for small and medium sized companies, mainly migrations from Exchange 5.5 to Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003 as well as new Exchange 2003 implementations.

Intellecom is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner in Information Worker, Infrastructure and Mobility solutions areas.  

Completed a large scale, nationwide Exchange 2003 project for Croatian Railways. The project was done in cooperation with Microsoft Consulting Services and is currently the largest Exchange 2003 installation in Croatia. I was in charge with designing and implementation of their Exchange 2003 infrastructure which replaced their Exchange 2000 and Linux systems.        

Also worked as a 3rd level support to some of our key customers like, American Express, National University Library, Ferrero, Municipality of Virovitica, etc.   

Infosistem is a system integrator company, one of the largest IT companies in Croatia, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner for Collaborative Solutions and a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner for Support Services

Provided complete networking and server infrastructure solutions for the company from scratch (audit of current state, redesign, equipment specifications and purchase, server installations, Active Directory migration and consolidation, etc )  The end result was a stabile infrastructure consisting of  Windows 2000 Active Directory,  network with multiple sites connected over Internet by VPN connections , with Windows XP clients, Exchange, System Management Server, Sharepoint Portal Server, Internet Security and Acceleration Server, Internet Information Server, antivirus protection system based on Norton Antivirus Enterprise Edition and backup solution based on Veritas BackupExec)

Also worked on deployments on our customer’s sites. SQL Server 2000 installations and deployment of Omega’s financial applications to client computers.

Provided complete networking and server infrastructure solutions from scratch for the company and for its projects (Windows 2000 Network, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WINS, DFS, Exchange, SMS, Sharepoint, ISA, IIS, antivirus protection, Veritas Backup Solution, etc.). I was also in technical lead of a 4-member technical team, consisting of 2 junior engineers and 2 technicians

Supported Infodom employees and Infodom’s Windows 2000 LAN/WAN infrastructure, consisting of 9 servers and 50 workstations

The major project I worked on was at The Croatian Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Communications. The Ministry had 260 computers on 72 locations, most of those were not even physically connected to each other and not being managed properly. All their PC and locations were consolidated into single Windows NT 4.0 network, managed with Systems Management Server, with Exchange messaging system and proper antivirus and backup protection I was also providing system engineering advice and assistance to projects that are being done for Croatian Telecom and Republic of Croatia State Geodetic Administration

Infodom is an independent software vendor, a Microsoft Certified Partner since year 2000 and an ISO9001 certified company

I was in charge of the project financed by the Swedish government through its SIDA (Swedish International Development and Cooperation Agency). The project was about 0.5 million DEM worth and it was done together with Republic of Srpska Ministry of Administration and Local Self-government. The goal of the project was to deliver a citizens database for municipal registration offices in the Republic of Srpska entity and for the Ministry for Administration and Local Self-government. Beside data entry and issuing documents like birth or marriage certificates, system provides communication and data exchange between the municipalities and the Ministry as well as data processing and reporting at the Ministry and Municipal level.

Specifically, I was in charge of technical planning, hardware and software purchase, actual implementation, establishment of a computer training centre, end-user and technical training and support.

Within the organisation I deployed a complete computer network solution for our offices in Bijeljina and Banja Luka (equipment purchase, assembling the server and Ethernet cabling, Windows NT network, setup of an Exchange/Outlook communication and collaboration system, setup of MS Proxy server, and IIS for our local Intranet).

Worked on project financed by EC (European Community) and IOM (International Organisation for Migration) in Bihac Municipality where NSU has deployed a Windows NT network consisting of 50 computers and applications for protocol and reconstruction. Worked on setup of the entire network (Windows NT Servers with BackOffice 4.5 and Win95 and Win NT 4.0 workstations). Completed a project financed by SRSA (Swedish Rescue Services Agency) and SIDA in Zvornik Gymnasium, where I have worked on computer equipment purchase, installation of a computer classroom and training of teachers working there.

Trained users in Outlook 2000. Also developed the curriculum and training materials for this training. 

Also worked on a project financed by OSCE (Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe) that should provide 22 municipalities in Bosnia with budgeting and finance computer system dealing with the IT aspect of the project.
