Project 1:
SmartLink – Euler Hermes (Allianz group), Germany
Project planning and management using Agile methodology for building an e-commerce store for eBooks. It included functional analysis and research on eBook formats and transformations. Building the web store, the converters for different formats and readers and testing it on most of them. The challenge was to manage the research and the marketing for this novel product, as well as the many different technologies for building it and creating a sellable product.
Project managing the creation of a platform for building web portals using frames with different functionalities, customizable drag&drop designs and multiple sites administration. The candidate had much iteration to make the technology work in a user friendly fashion.
Created and managed the life cycle of services for business and resident customers of the mobile operator. This included market analysis, design of service, writing of marketing and technical specifications, project management and customer service. Some of the projects were: developing and implementing GPRS system, GPS tracking service, MMS content services, SMS games, quizzes and voting services.
The candidate created Data Warehouse for the Value Added Services based on Oracle Database and ETL tools. More specifically he created DWH for Value Added Services from the logs of VAS systems for SMS, Voice Mail, MMS, Internet and other. The challenge was to extract and transform data from this variety of proprietary systems, having many formats and types of storages, and also setting up the database and the backup. As a Database administrator and programmer this was a long project, while also having to cater for an operational database.
This was a World Bank project to reform the pension system (in particular The Pension and Disability Fund) in Macedonia. The task was to analyze its business processes and re-engineer them according to the newly passed laws. He also participated in the development of the IT change management plan.
Soprano Design is the first company in Australia to release applications for WAP enabled mobile handsets. The candidate also produced applications for mobile banking and high throughput SMS services for the Australian Telecom. The tasks were to set up the operational database, the DWH, to create the JDBC interfaces and stored procedures for the programmers, to transform the data and make reports. There was no need for ETL, but the challenge was to automate the functioning of the DWH so that the system can be self-sustained.
This project had two main objectives: 1) the Y2K debugging and 2) the upgrade of the present ERP system and hardware. [Name on request] led one of the projects for software system upgrade and debugging. The applications were in PL/SQL and the database was upgraded from version 6 to 8i.
The task was to customise the newly acquired software package from Novartis, based on Oracle and written in PL/SQL that was used for management of the port and the container traffic through it. It required coordination with the software company to adjust the software to the requirements, and lots of modifications and debugging. Few training sessions for the staff were given at the end.
