Network Engineering

Design and Integration of the three data centers across Switzerland based on the NEXUS 7010 (N5K & N2K) platform.

Involved as a Senior Network Engineer in the Credit Suisse Group, Frankfurt office relocations. My responsibilities range from assisting in project management, infrastructure design, construction, deployment & evaluation. Managing subnet assignments and IP address control. Providing network relocation support. IPT rollout for new premises. Providing out of band and iLO connectivity for Windows and UNIX servers. Juniper Netscreen Firewalls deployment and configuration.

Secondary responsibilities involve maintenance and project work involving Juniper Netscreen firewalls, Cyclades Alterpath terminal servers. Provided 2nd and 3rd line support for any Juniper Netscreen firewall work.

Completed new office network installation, including the deployment of IPT and server installations in Germany. This includes the locations Berlin, Bielefeld, Braunschweig, Bremen, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hannover, Köln, München, Nürnberg, Regensburg and Stuttgart.

Good all round knowledge of data networking especially routing, switching and market data delivery mechanisms. Hands on network operations experience of supporting major corporate Cisco network infrastructure. Ability to analyse faults and diagnose network through to application issues using management/support tools.

Firewall skills and market data and application knowledge as the fundamental part of this role was working closely with market data teams.

As a member of the Network Operations Team, the primary function was to analyse complex problems, using network management tools/data, to provide pro-active monitoring/support to support and troubleshooting the bank's electronic trading applications.

The role was requiring to undertake some core network operational duties when needed. This role is very business facing so strong communication skills are required to engage a range of users from senior management through to applications developers and non-IT business users.
