  • As part of the core management team and being financially engaged I was deeply involved in building Flightright from 5 to 100 employees.
  • One of my biggest personal challenges was growing from someone who did everything by himself as the company was small to a leader who delivers the vision to the team and values the benefits of people’s unique approaches in getting things done.
  • When I left for my sabbatical my team and I were responsible for Product Management, Key Account Management, Business Intelligence, and Special Projects

Within my role I did:

  • Disruptive Product Development with building Flightright Now. Together with a diversified team of developers and legal experts we launched a service that brings legal-tech to the next level. The customer receives his right and money within 10 minutes.
  • Technical Product Management by designing and building the internal system with developers and users. The system comprises the following modules: Workflow-Engine, Task / Bucket-List, Mail and E-mail Inbound and Outbound, and Finance. Today the system is used by 50 employees and has handled more than € 100 Mio. of incoming payments.
  • Business Intelligence by defining Key-Performance-Indicators, building a DWH, introducing Tableau for dashboarding as well as report generation, and using machine learning for assessing
    the enforceability of each claim.
  • Hiring by conducting more than 500 phone and face to face interviews. Within these interviews I learned how important it is to sell positions with integrity as well as looking for cultural fit. Additionally, I used my network to get people on board.
  • Key Account Management by managing the relationship with leading online travel agencies. Our responsibilities comprised contract negotiation, setting up the data transfer, and managing email send outs as well as reportings.

What did I learn?

  • Soft Skills: The importance of integrity. Always deliver value. How do developers think? When you start caring honestly about your employees they will do everything for you. Hire by cultural fit. Leading by vision and clear objectives.
  • Hard skills: Using Machine Learning in Production. How to build Web applications? Building a DWH and Optimizing Query Performance. Tracking via Google Analytics.
